Shamanic Practitioners are healers and are taught in all aspects of alternative medicine and light work. Another aspect of the shamanic practitioner's work is to spend time with the client and counsel them on ways that they can become more empowered in their own lives. A lot of what society suffers from as a whole is not being in touch with their souls purpose. Part of the shamanic journey is to find ones soul purpose. There are so many people out in the world who are becoming ill because they have shut down and do not communicate with their own soul, there is a disconnect. Part of the Shamanic Practitioners job is to work with people to remind them that they have a soul purpose and if they are sick it is because there soul propose is not being fulfilled. It is like not getting enough oxygen, after a while the person will develop symptoms and become ill and will eventually die if not treated properly. The soul is as important to the body as air.

Joseph Carringer has been walking a shamanic path since his early memories as a small child and there have been many lessons and experiences that help him in his work today. He has had the great fortune of crossing paths with wonderful teachers that have offered him amazing experiences and adventures. A great lesson in humility came with his first sweat lodge lead by Thomas One Wolf in the hills outside LA. The energetic wheels that this experience set into motion would have a long lasting effect on his life and to this day Joseph owes great thanks to One Wolf, Sherry, Michael and the entire Faustino Family.

Throughout his life Joseph has connected with many wild and domesticated animals but there is one animal species in particular he shares a profoundly deep connection with. On September 16, 1999 as hurricane Floyd barreled down on NYC, Joseph headed out to walk his dog along the Palisades on the NJ side of the George Washington Bridge. Out of a landslide that just missed him and his dog came a crow that appeared to be fine except for it being unable to fly. Shortly after preparing a box for it to rest in, the crow became restless and Joseph picked it up to calm it. As soon as he picked the crow up it rolled onto it's back in his hands spread it's wings and locked eyes with Joseph and let out a caw and died. As it did this, Joseph describes feeling its spirit rush through him. After sharing this story many years later with a Cherokee/Navajo medicine man named Raised by Wolve,s Joseph was instructed to take the spirit name "Speaking Crow". All of the physical and spiritual crow energies Joseph works with have been gifts from earth mother and he is eternally grateful for the crow's presence in his life.

The word "Shaman" is a broad term used in many cultures throughout the world to describe person who uses traditional or indigenous healing techniques. The word shaman is actually taken from the Siberian word for "medicine man" or woman.

Throughout human history transcending all cultures, there has always been a medicine man, shaman, priest or priestess and even witch to go to for help when sickness or misfortune came upon a person. These traditional healers would work with the subtle energy systems of the person seeking help to move the stagnation or blockage that was causing the problem.

Medicine people of all cultures share the belief that they work with the available natural energies of the planet to help people find there way to healing themselves. This can be done with plants, animal totems, moon cycles, rocks, crystals, etc. There are may forms of indigenous shamanism, but all look at illness as having some energetic or etheryl source. The oldest indigenous culture on the planet is the Aboriginal Culture and they to saw illness as having a supernatural or energetic root.
